HRVC RULES PLAYERS: (PARENTS, PLEASE SEE BELOW) 1. It is mandatory that every player attend each practice. Each player is allowed two (2) free passes to miss practice. Anything over the two misses will result in a one game suspension at the next tournament. 2. If you must miss practice, you are to call YOUR Coach by 9:00 p.m. on the Saturday before the Sunday practice. 3. If an emergency arises and you must miss a tournament, you are to call either Coach Rogers or Coach Michael AND your Coach as soon as possible. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE MORNING OF THE TOURNAMENT TO CALL. IF WE KNOW AHEAD OF TIME, WE MAY BE ABLE TO TRANSFER A PLAYER FROM ANOTHER TEAM TO TAKE YOUR PLACE. 4. Following is a list of "General Rules" for a good volleyball player: Rule #1- Don't brag! No one is impressed with how good you think you are. You may be the best player on the team, but keep it to yourself. Rule #2- Always compliment others! When you see any good skill or any improvement in another player tell them. They will appreciate you for it. This is the way to win friends. Rule #3- Don't be bossy! Nobody likes being told what to do by another player. Play your position and let them play theirs. We have great coaches for telling the players what to do!! Rule #4- Don't correct anyone! Never try to show the "right" way to do something. They will resent your "know-it-all" attitude. Again, we have great coaches to do the "correcting". Rule #5- Don't criticize! When someone makes a mistake or does something you don't like, say nothing. They know they made a mistake without your criticism. Rule #6- Always keep a good attitude! It is always an encouragement to your teammates when they see you smiling and with a general good outlook. They don't need a sourpuss on the court to dampen their spirit. Rule #7- Leave your personal dislikes off the court! There may be someone on the team that you don't get along with. Forget your personalities on the court. We must function as a team. There must be unity and there is no room for personal arguments. PARENTS: Also refer to the Carolina Region link for more information on parents behavior policies. 1. Be supportive of the coaching staff, especially when it comes to implementing the rules set out above. If your player has an unexcused miss from practice, please know ahead of time that she will not play for one full match at the next tournament. Please do not confront the coach about your player not playing. If you have a problem or disagreement with the coach, you should contact Coach Michael or Coach Rogers after the tournament. DO NOT CONFRONT YOUR PLAYER'S COACH. 2. Please be courteous of the coaches and players during the games. In J.O., the players are the officials for each game. Please understand that while they are doing their best, they will make mistakes. We certainly do not want to be disruptive or rude to any players/coaches during the games. (This goes for whether your team is playing or not.) 3. Please plan ahead. Please make arrangements to get your player's order for lunch either before or after the game. Do not go to the bench during the middle of a game to ask what she would like for lunch. Also, please make sure each player has her sports-drink/water bottle before the game begins. 4. We have an absolute NO TOLERANCE policy for drugs or alcohol. If you are caught with drugs or alcohol at practice or a tournament you will be banned from all practices and tournament for the remainder of the season. |
