Junior Olympic Volleyball is played in a tournament
format on Saturdays only. We play 8 - 10 games during
a tournament. The tournaments are all day events and are played in various
locations throughout North Carolina. Generally, we leave very early on
Saturday mornings to arrive at the tournament site by coaches meeting time,
8:30 AM. Most of the time we arrive home at
5:00 - 6:00 in the evening. However, if we are in the championship game, it
could be later. |
 |
The season begins in January and ends in
April.
Generally, there is
a tournament every two weeks and this year there are six tournaments
for ages 12-15 and six tournaments for ages 16-18, which
culminate with a regional championship. The tournaments
this year will be played on the following schedule:

Junior Olympic Volleyball is an upper level of volleyball
that teaches you a high degree of expertise. It has been
asked if J. O. Volleyball interferes with school eligibility in any way. No, it
only enhances the High School programs and gives them far more advanced players.
Most High School coaches like for their players to be involved during the
off-season in J. O. Ball. They get training that they cannot get in High School
because of time restraints. If you are interested in taking
your skills to championship levels then J. O. Volleyball is especially for you.
We invite you to participate with a group of dedicated volleyballers that will
encourage you to take your game to new heights.

 |
Our practices are held on Sunday
afternoon and, if possible, maybe on a week night (depending on gym
availability), in order to get ready for a tournament on Saturday. We do
everything possible to insure that practices do not conflict with school.
Also, during the Christmas holidays, which is right before the season begins,
there will be special practices to get the teams ready to play.
|
 |
Most J. O. Volleyball clubs charge
between $400 - $600 (and some even higher) for a player to participate. Membership this year will be
$250.00. This
year each team will be purchasing their own uniforms. Nowhere else can you get
such a high degree of training by a quality coaching staff and play
that much volleyball for so little expense.
Of course, this
fee includes each
players' officiating clinic fees and club fees.
THERE IS A SEPARATE CHARGE FOR CAROLINA REGION MEMBERSHIP
FEES. The fee also
allows us to reimburse our coaches for gas/food at the end of the season.
As most of you know, our coaches do not get paid for their services. Our
coaches are strictly on a "volunteer basis". We feel it is only
appropriate to give them some stipend at the end of each season to cover their
costs for helping.
